Child and Family Connections

Specializing in Infant and Toddler Development

Families of infants and toddlers who are experiencing delays in development can be referred to Child and Family Connections #20 (CFC) for screening, evaluation and services. CFC #20 serves families in Bond, Christian, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Macoupin, Montgomery and Richland Counties.

Once a referral is received, a Service Coordinator will meet with the family to listen to concerns and to assist in setting up evaluations of the child. The results of the evaluations will determine program eligibility. A service team develops a plan that is designed to address the specific priorities and concerns of the family.

Specific areas may include:

  • Assistive Technology
  • Audiology/Aural Rehabilitation
  • Family Training and Support
  • Developmental Therapy
  • Health Consultation
  • Medical Diagnostic Services
  • Nursing
  • Nutrition
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Psychological/Counseling
  • Service Coordination
  • Social Work
  • Speech/Language Therapy
  • Transportation
  • Vision Services

The earlier a developmental delay or disability is identified, the better the chance that early intervention services can help a child reach his or her full potential.

To learn about the many online resources that can be used for the early detection of developmental delays, you can go to the Illinois Early Intervention Clearinghouse's website for assessment questionaires and other tools for familes, providers, and interested groups.
